Network Evaluation and Optimization

This service will include a full review and evaluation of your network components including your Internet Connection, Router, Firewall, Switching and wireless access points (WiFi). These are the core of your network, where your network traffic flows. This equipment, when improperly configured, can cause issues with network and internet connectivity. We will use best practices to ensure your equipment is set up to function properly and securely as best it can. We perform a network router and firewall review and implement best practice security settings, update firmware if available and configure automatic updates when possible. We will test network speed to ensure your devices are getting the speed they should. We will make recommendations to you based on what we find. If the equipment you have can not handle what you are trying to do, we will recommend products that can, and give you a quote to install them.
Remote Network Connection
Wish you could connect to you network securely when away from home or the office? Worry about using public WiFi (you should)?
We can configure your network for secure remote access using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), giving you access to your network when you're away, while keeping your network secure. VPN's can easily be installed on your laptop computer, smart phone and other devices. Your devices can be configured to connect to your network via the VPN, thereby encrypting all your traffic and making it secure. Connecting to public WiFi can be a serious security risk, potentially allowing persons to eavesdrop on all you traffic. This requires a router at your home or office that supports VPN connectivity. Wireless Network Evaluation and Optimization

Most homes use an all in one wireless router, which performs as a router/firewall, switch and wireless access point (AP) all in one. For small homes a centrally located device like this can perform well. However, If you have a larger home or have placed the router in the basement next to the modem these are rarly adequate. Placement is key. Access points are radio trasmitters and receivers which are affected by distance, walls, interference from other access points (your neighbors) and electrical devices. We can perform an analysis of your environment and make recommendations. This might simply be moving the access point to a better location. If you have a larger home and/or want outside coverage then upgrading your equipment or adding additional access points might be needed.
